Fired Houston Meteorologist Blasts KPRC Bosses Over Workplace Claims

Former Houston meteorologist Brittany Begley has publicly criticized her former bosses after being fired from KPRC 2, accusing the station of unfair treatment and a toxic workplace culture.

Begley, who worked as a weekend meteorologist at the Houston NBC affiliate, made the accusations in a detailed social media post after her dismissal. She claimed management had already decided to terminate her before a formal human resources meeting and said a box for her belongings had already been placed near her desk.

The former weathercaster said she had raised concerns about staffing, working conditions, and what she viewed as unequal treatment among employees. She alleged that lower-paid staffers were expected to take on difficult schedules and extra responsibilities during major weather events, while higher-profile employees faced fewer demands.

Begley also shared screenshots of internal emails and workplace messages that she said supported her complaints. In her post, she accused the station of failing to address long-running newsroom problems and said employees were dealing with burnout, poor communication, and a lack of support.

The controversy comes after Begley previously went viral for criticizing the television news industry, including concerns about Emmy recognition, workplace pressure, and the way some local newsrooms operate. Following that post, she confirmed she was no longer with KPRC.

KPRC has previously said it takes employee concerns seriously, but the station has not publicly addressed all of Begley’s latest claims in detail.

Begley said she does not regret speaking out, even though it cost her job. She described herself as someone willing to challenge newsroom culture and said she hopes to continue advocating for people in television who feel overlooked or mistreated.

The situation has sparked debate online, with some people supporting Begley for calling attention to workplace conditions, while others criticized the public nature of her comments.

For now, the claims remain part of a public dispute between Begley and her former employer. No independent investigation confirming all of her allegations has been publicly released.
