Harry Kane Celebrates With Family After Saving England in World Cup Comeback

Harry Kane was the hero once again as England survived a major World Cup scare with a dramatic 2-1 comeback victory over DR Congo in Atlanta.

The England captain scored twice in the final stages of the Round of 32 clash, turning what looked like a possible shock exit into another famous knockout victory for the Three Lions.

After the final whistle, Kane was seen celebrating with his wife Kate and their children as England players were greeted by their families and partners in emotional scenes. The moment captured the relief of a team that had come dangerously close to disaster before its captain stepped up.

England had entered the match as heavy favorites, but DR Congo stunned Thomas Tuchel’s side early. Brian Cipenga scored in the seventh minute, giving the underdogs a dream start and forcing England into an uncomfortable chase.

For much of the match, England looked nervous. DR Congo defended with discipline, carried danger on the counterattack, and threatened to produce one of the biggest surprises of the tournament. Goalkeeper Lionel Mpasi also frustrated England with important saves as the pressure grew.

But knockout football often belongs to players who can handle pressure, and Kane showed why he remains England’s most reliable finisher.

The equalizer finally came in the 75th minute when substitute Anthony Gordon delivered the assist and Kane headed England level. The goal released the tension inside the stadium and shifted momentum toward the Three Lions.

Eleven minutes later, Kane struck again, completing the comeback and sending England into the last 16. His second goal sparked wild celebrations on the pitch and in the stands, where England’s families and WAGs had been watching nervously.

The emotional post-match scenes quickly became part of the story. Kane shared a kiss with his wife Kate and celebrated with his children, while other England players were congratulated by partners and loved ones after a tense afternoon in Atlanta.

The presence of the WAGs has become a familiar part of England’s World Cup journey. Families and partners have followed the team across the United States, offering support during one of the most demanding tournaments in world football.

For players, these moments matter. A World Cup knockout match brings enormous pressure, and family support can help soften the emotional weight of the occasion. After such a stressful win, the celebrations showed both relief and love.

Kane’s performance also strengthened his role as England’s central figure. He did not dominate every moment of the match, but when England needed goals, he delivered. That is what captains are expected to do in knockout football.

Tuchel praised England’s mentality after the match, saying the team never accepted defeat. That resilience will be important because England’s overall performance still raised concerns. The Three Lions struggled for rhythm, gave away an early goal, and needed late heroics to survive.

DR Congo deserve credit for making the match so difficult. The African side arrived as underdogs but played with belief, structure, and courage. Their World Cup campaign ended in defeat, but their performance against England showed how far the team has progressed.

Coach Sébastien Desabre said his players left a positive image of Congolese football on the world stage. After leading England for more than an hour, DR Congo can leave the tournament with pride even though the final result was painful.

For England, the win keeps the dream alive. The Three Lions now move into the Round of 16, where they will face co-hosts Mexico at the iconic Azteca Stadium.

That match will bring a different kind of challenge. Mexico will have home support, altitude, emotional energy, and a hostile atmosphere. England may have survived DR Congo, but they will need a sharper performance if they want to go deeper.

The comeback also adds to the growing belief around Kane. England have often been criticized for failing to produce decisive moments in major tournaments, but this time their captain turned pressure into progress.

Still, there are warning signs. England cannot afford another slow start. Against stronger opposition, falling behind early could be far more costly.

Tuchel will likely review the defensive mistakes, attacking delays, and midfield rhythm before the Mexico match. Gordon’s impact from the bench may also create selection questions, especially after his key role in both goals.

The win over DR Congo was not perfect, but World Cup history is full of champions who survived difficult knockout matches. Sometimes the most important thing is not style, but staying alive.

For England fans, Kane’s late double turned anxiety into celebration. For his family, it created another unforgettable moment in his career. For the squad, it was proof that belief can survive even when the match seems to be slipping away.

England are still in the World Cup. DR Congo pushed them to the edge, but Harry Kane brought them back.

Now the Three Lions head to Mexico with momentum, relief, and a captain who once again proved he can carry the weight of a nation.
